Almost all his life Emmanuel Louis Costa painted scenes of Nice, Mediterranean coastal life, fishermen and landscapes decorated with figures in the regional costume. In addition, in 1884 he was commissioned to create monumental murals in the city opera of Nice, and the new hall of the city hall of Paris. He also decorated many villas, castles and churches.
