Many Amsterdammers know Frits Schiller mainly as the owner of Hotel Schiller on Rembrandtplein. He was also a painter. After training with the cityscape painter G.J. Staller and then at the Rijksacademie, he specialized in landscapes, still lifes and Amsterdam cityscapes. He showed a great talent especially in his portraits.
