Fritz Gärtner was a versatile artist: in addition to being a painter, he was also a graphic artist, sculptor and designer of illustrations and posters. He was educated at the academy in Munich (1899-1908), where his talents were recognized and praised: in 1906 and 1908 he was awarded the silver academy medal for his work. After his studies, the artist traveled through the Netherlands and Italy. Gärtner painted history paintings, landscapes, portraits and figure pieces, often with a bright palette and a firm touch. Gärtner made a mural in the trade school in Hagen. His paintings can be seen in museums in Prague and Leipzig, among others.
