Gerard Muller was an Amsterdam painter, student of the Rijksakademie there and then of the Akademie in Antwerp. He painted and watercoloured town and village views, but mainly figures, which betray southern influence in their elegance. The painter made a number of long journeys, including to Spain, Italy (1913) and Morocco (1920), which inspired him to draw and paint Spanish and Italian villages and exotic representations with figures. He also made excellent watercolors of fruits and flowers. Gerard Muller was a member and board member of the artists' association Arti & Amicitiae in Amsterdam.
