Colour and spontaneity are the elements that revolve around the work of the Amsterdam painter Guillaume Lo-A-Njoe. After his education at the Rietveld Academy in the 1950s, the dynamic expressionism of the Cobra group formed a guideline for the painter to arrive at a style all his own. He got off to a quick start. Early on he received a Royal Subsidy and exhibitions in its wake. He was also part of the Liga Nieuw Beelden for some time. The colours he uses are usually pure and warm, his design - which becomes more and more figurative over the years - is playful yet powerful. In the sixties, the festivity of confetti, in the form of colourful splashes of paint, played a role in his work. In addition to paintings, the artist also made monumental wall paintings (Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam), mosaics (Wageningse Berg, Wageningen) and sculpture.
