Hans Veneman was a socially committed artist who wanted to raise environmental issues and destruction through his art. He was educated at the A.K.I. in Enschede and manifested himself as a painter, sculptor and cinematographer. Veneman was a material artist and made installations and images of demolition material, oil paint/sand paintings, wall objects and from 1980 he also performed painting performances. As a painter he worked expressionistically, sometimes realistically, with the landscape, people and animals as subjects.
