Painter of genre and figure pieces, landscapes, marines and animals. He received his painting training from Charles Verlat at the Academy of Antwerp. In 1883 he settled permanently in this city. He found most of his subjects there, as well as in the countryside near Brasschaat, where he painted, among other things, smoothly designed peasant interiors in an impressionist style. His production was high and his work was sold far beyond the national borders.
