Like his twin brother Anton Pieck, Henri Pieck followed a drawing course in The Hague and subsequently attended the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam (1912-1913). After that he lived most of his life in The Hague, working as a painter, architect and illustrator. As far as his style is concerned, the artist did not seek affiliation with the modern art movements of the early 20th century, but adhered to a traditional naturalism with an emphasis on elegant lines. Pieck was a strongly socially committed artist and his vision of the injustice of the traditional class society is occasionally reflected in his work. .
