Henricus Rol was a versatile artist. He was a graphic artist and painted and watercoloured finely detailed portraits, still lifes, flowers and animals. In addition, he illustrated the famous Verkade albums together with his father Cornelis Rol and Jan Voerman Jr. Because he was very busy with this, Rol painted relatively little free work.
