I.L. Ruin was a Finnish painter of portraits, figures and nudes. She was a pupil of the Swedish painter Anders Zorn (1860-1920), one of the first Scandinavian artists who portrayed nudes in nature. This subject came into fashion at the end of the 19th century and inspired a large number of artists in a short period of time.
