Irénée Duriez is known as a sculptor of female figures. At the age of 14, he started working as a woodcarver with his father, from whom he had to learn the carpentry trade. Duriez began by making sculptures in wood and stone. In the vicinity of Yves Rhaye, he went on a quest for both abstract and figurative design. In the end, Duriez opted for the elegance of the female nude. In bronze, he captures his models in different poses and with different emotions. Duriez pays a lot of attention to the sensitivity and body shapes of his model and describes his work as an ode to the young woman. In Ichtegem, Belgium, his work can be seen in a large exhibition hall and sculpture garden.
