an den Hengst, born in 1904, lived and worked in Delft, Hilversum and Amsterdam. He was self-taught in painting, watercolor painting and painting in impressionist style landscapes, cityscapes, flowers and still life. In his later work he went over to a sea of realistic style with rich colors and lots of stylish figures. With his travel-loving art lovers Jan Korthals and Jan Rijlaarsdam made his daughters in the likes of France, Spain and Italy in 2006, which he had three years ago and had a large exhibition in Hilversum. Van den Hengst exhibited in various places at home and abroad and was a member of the Amsterdam artists' associations Arti et Amicitiae and Sint Lucas, and of the Amersfoort Artists' society ‘Ploegh’.
