Hague painter of figures, mostly in 17th-century costume and Old Dutch interiors and courtyards inspired by Pieter de Hooch. He also followed his fellow townsman J.A.B. Stroebel. Salm was self-taught and worked as an engraver and merchant, among other things, before devoting himself entirely to painting.
