Leon Pringels was a Belgian artist who was educated at the Drawing Academy of Sint-Jans-Molenbeek, at the Sint-Lucasschool in Schaarbeek and the Academy in Brussels. In Brussels he studied together with Paul Delvaux and René Magritte, among others. For a long time, from 1930 to 1969, he taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Saint-Gilles. Pringels had studios in various places, in Elsene (Brussels) and in Stevoort in Belgian Limburg, where he spent several months every year from 1933 onwards. He painted landscapes, floral still lifes and religious scenes in a figurative, impressionistic style. Pringels is known as a versatile artist. During his career of more than seventy years he practiced many genres in the most diverse techniques. He also made murals and worked as a sculptor and ceramist.
