Draftsman of expressionist canvases as well as abstracted performances in which he sometimes incorporates naive elements. Initially, Van den Bergh studied violin at the conservatory in Antwerp. Only at the age of 30 he started taking evening lessons at the academy, after which he developed further on his own as a painter. Besides landscapes and village scenes, man was his most beloved subject.
