Literature: 'Münchner Maler im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert', dl. V, München 1993, pag. 110.

L.W. Braunbeck lived and worked in Munich for most of his life, which is why he is counted among the younger Munich School. Initially, he mainly worked as an advertising artist and poster designer. Through his father, who was chairman of the German Schnauferl-Club (the predecessor of the Allgem. Deutsche Automobil Club), he came into contact with the car world. In the 1930s this resulted in a series of posters, drawings and paintings of car races and related subjects. Braunbeck also painted landscapes in which impressionism can be seen in tone and lines.
