Provenance: Monika Rabassa, weduwe van de kunstenaar.
This Spanish artist left for London at the age of 20, where he became the assistant of the legendary sculptor Henri Moore (1898-1986). In 1964 Marín moved to New York. Here he initially worked as a conservator; later he opened his own gallery, 'The American Indian Art Gallery'. He met and became friends with famous artists such as Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Willem de Kooning. In 1969 he discovered his talent as a maker of moving sculptures, influenced by the pioneer Alexander Calder. Many exhibitions of his work, including international ones, followed.
