The French painter Marcel Cosson was best known for his depictions of dance houses, restaurants and dressing rooms of revue and ballet dancers. Although his oeuvre was largely created in the 20th century, his paintings are in line with French Impressionism in subject matter. However, his style is freer and looser and more focused on depicting atmosphere than on painting light.
