Marcel Cosson was a French painter known for his pictures of dance halls, restaurants and music hall dancers and ballerinas in their dressing rooms. Though most of his oeuvre dates from the twentieth century, his subject matter is closer to the French impressionists. Yet his manner is freer, lighter and more focused on capturing mood than on light effects.
