Marie Wandscheer lived and worked in Amsterdam until 1895, then in Ede. She received her training in the famous 'ladies class' of the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam. There she met, among others, the Amsterdam joffer Lizzy Ansingh, with whom she befriended. Marie Wandscheer drew, painted and pastured still lifes and flower still lifes, but also of her figures, interiors and many beautiful portraits. In Ede she learned etchings from Willem Witsen when he lived there from 1893 to 1902 in villa Zonneberg.
