The Belgian impressionist Maurice Sieron was born in 1879 in the town of Sint Gilles near Brussels. He made a name for himself as a painter, pastelist and draftsman of mainly landscapes, village views and figures. He also painted scenes from the First World War. One of the first exhibitions in which he participated was the Exposition Générale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels in 1907.
