Dupuy was a genre painter, born in the southern French spa town of Pau. He received his painting training at the Academy des Beaux-Arts in Paris under the direction of Leon Bonnat and Albert Maignon. Dupuy has been called the painter of the outdoors and of children playing. In addition to the Parisian parks, he also painted in Normandy, on the Belgian coast, in Spain and in Venice.
