Paul Schultze, a self-taught painter, must have been formed at an early age by his summer visits to Domburg. He lived in the circle around Jan Toorop and became acquainted with the work of the 'moderns' who gathered there in the summer. He also took part in the illustrious Summer Exhibitions from 1915 to 1919. After that, his work seems to have become more impressionistic. Schultze lived and worked in The Hague almost all his life. His oeuvre includes interiors, flowers, landscape and still lifes.
