Pierre Guillaume is a pseudonym used by the Leiden-based artist Peter Willemse for his plein air paintings of seasides in the Netherlands, Portugal and Indonesia. These sunny, impressionistic pictures not only capture the scenes’ mood and ambiance but also seek to document beach life, as the titles attest. Willemse also paints still lifes in a realistic style in the privacy of his own studio.
