Exhibited: Amsterdam, Rijksmuseum, ‘Tentoonstelling kunst en vrijheid’, 22 sept-15 nov. 1945.

In this painting we see Pol Dom getting inspired and looking around at the paddock of Duindigt. The first horse racing track for the general public was opened here in 1906. It is an autumnal day, the leaves are already yellow and the curious public is apparently dressed for this season. Perhaps Dom is looking for the horse that he will soon take a gamble on.
