The painter R.W.M. Posthuma was born in Harlingen and moved to The Hague in 1909, where he would continue to live with short interruptions for the rest of his life. In and around his hometown he painted cityscapes and beach views in which the influence of his older fellow townsman Willem de Zwart can be detected.
