Little is known about the British painter Stanley Grayson. He received his art training at the academy in London, and exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy and the New English Art Club in London at least during the 1930s-40s. His oeuvre shows a preference for painting landscapes, female portraits and genre scenes. Grayson also worked extensively in watercolour, with which he made smooth and striking sketches. He also managed to retain the impression of a snapshot, which can often be conveyed in a watercolour, in his paintings on canvas.
