Tjieke Roelofs-Bleckmann was the wife of figure and interior painter Albert Roelofs and the daughter of the painter Willem Bleckmann. 'A life for (and of) art' was therefore no stranger to her. She was also Roelofs' muse and his most loyal model: Tjieke inspired her husband to create countless figure pieces that testify to an intimate, domestic happiness. She herself was also a gifted painter, who, however, largely put her talent and career aside to support her husband. Her modest oeuvre consists of flowers, still lifes, interiors and portraits, painted in an impressionist style.
