Born in Budapest in 1937, Vida Gábor grew up in an artistic family. His mother was an opera singer, his father an architect. Just like his mother, Gábor had musical talents: he became a professional flutist with the Budapest Philarmonic Orchestra. In his spare time, Gábor liked to paint. Because he built up his paintings from many transparent layers of paint (glazing), he sometimes worked on a painting for months. In his - often humorous - genre performances, he combines reality with his own fantasy. Due to the political climate in Europe, Gábor's work was hardly known in our country until the 1990s. Exhibitions of his work were held in Munich, among others.
