Viktor Pucinski studied from 1911 to 1915 at the art academy in Düsseldorf, where he was taught by the sea and beach scape painter Eugen Dücker, among others. Characteristic of his early work is the naturalistic, naive-styling style in which he painted figures, beach views with children and city views. Later he specialized in painting landscapes and animals, especially exotic birds.
