Willem Bodeman was one of B.C. Koekkoek’s first pupils, being apprenticed to the ‘Prince of the Landscape Painters’ after 1826. In 1934 he became an honorary member of the Arti Sacrum society in Rotterdam. Bodeman painted woodland scenes and mountainous landscapes. The Belgian painter E.J. Verboeckhoven often painted the staffage in his works.
