Village views, (flower) still lifes, interiors and landscapes are the oeuvre of the Amsterdam painter and graphic artist Willem Jansen. He trained as an artist at various institutes in the capital, including the Rijksacademie. For many years he lived just north of Amsterdam, in Wormerveer and Westzaan. His work shows that he had lost his heart to the surrounding polder landscape; Willem Jansen became especially known for his etchings of the Zaan region.
