Felicien Bobeldijk was born in Koog aan de Zaan, received his education at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam and, after some wanderings, in 1912 settled permanently in this city. He became a well known portrait painter, especially after he produced a series of drawn portraits of artists for 'De Groene Amsterdammer' (Dutch oldest weekly opinion magazine). He also drew and painted Amsterdam cityscapes, colorful flower still lifes and a single beach scene with fishermen.
