Pol Dom, born in Antwerp in 1885, belonged to the Flemings who settled in the Netherlands for a shorter or longer period because here around 1910 the artistic climate was more progressive. From 1909 to 1910 and 1914 to 1916 he lived in Laren and in 1927 he settled permanently in The Hague. His style of painting, which was rooted in the moody naturalism that was very popular around 1900 in Belgium, was also in our country appreciated. Pol Dom also made his name as a political draftsman, graphic artist and portrait painter.
