Provenance: part. bezit Groot-Brittannië.

Wim Bosma was a painter with a fascination for the 'miracles' of the modern, twentieth-century machine age, with oil and watercolour paintings that feature railway viaducts, trains, boats and aircraft. Among his most famous works are stations and harbours produced in the 1930s in a New Objectivist, realistic style. His paintings of this period are also indebted to André Lhote's more Cubist works, with compositions built up from lines and blocks of colour that serve to emphasise the flatness of the canvas. After 1945 his repertoire expanded to include other types of subject matter.
