Provenance: een vriend van de familie Walrecht.
Ben Walrecht is one of the painters who joined the Groninger Ploeg in the 1930s. He was originally an advertising designer and also devoted himself to painting Groningen cityscapes, portraits and landscapes. His motives, smooth impressionism and free use of color matched those of the Ploeg members and in 1936 he therefore became a member of this group of artists. Walrecht's passion for water led to the purchase of a ship, on which he eventually went to live and with which he sailed through Friesland in the summer with Martens and Dijkstra.
